The Teide National Park began to deploy, on a voluntary basis in the year 2002, an Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS). It is developed by the European Regulation (EC) No. 761/2001 of the European Parliament and of the Council, from the 19th March.

This regulation aims to improve the environmental performance, in order to ensure that the activities, services and facilities that the administration made available to the public are consistent with the preservation and conservation of natural systems and resources.

It is the first Spanish protected natural space that, on the 8th November 2005 and with a registration number GA-2005/0469, managed to obtain the Certificate in Environmental Management, in accordance with the requirements of the Spanish Standard UNE-EN ISO 14001:2004. Subsequently, the General Directorate of Environmental Quality of the Government of the Canary Islands, by resolution of the 27th February 2006, enrolled the Teide National Park in the Register of Organizations attached to the EU Eco-Management and Audit Scheme (EMAS), with the registration number IS.IC.000041.

The environmental policy of the park contains the set of guidelines and general objectives that guide the actions of the National Park in relation to the environment.
