                         ERDF REGIONAL OPERATIONAL PROGRAMME OF THE CANARY ISLANDS 2007-2013

The European Union's cohesion policy for the period 2007-2013 had as its priority to achieve balanced economic and social development of the territory supported by greater sustainable growth of the regions and the creation of more and better quality jobs, as set out in Article 3 of Council Regulation (EC) 1083/2006 of 11 July 2006 down the general provisions relating to the European Fund Regional Development Fund (ERDF), the European Social Fund (ESF) and the Cohesión.De this way sought to promote a sustainable development model that had as its priority objective economic and social cohesion based on economic growth with a clear social and environmental dimension. In order to increase the added value of this policy, its objectives focused on the following 3

  • Convergence
  • Regional Competitiveness and Employment
  • European Territorial Cooperation

During this period the Autonomous Community of the Canary Islands falls within the category of phasing-in regions, those that because of their growth dynamics have ceased to belong to regions with an income level per capita below 75% of the EU-15 average. The hydraulic infrastructures developed from the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Fisheries and Waters and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund within the ERDF Operational Programme 2007-2013 are:

 

  • Seawater desalination plants in the WEST at Fonsalia, Tenerife Desplegar
  • - Seawater desalination plants of GRANADILLA in the Polygon of Granadilla, Tenerife Desplegar
