Recent articles, web site reviews, and technology in the classroom are also highlighted. First-Day-of-School Icebreakers - Help Students and Teachers Warm Up! Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators is a categorized list of sites on the Internet found to be useful for enhancing curriculum and teacher professional growth. It is updated daily to keep up with the tremendous number of new World Wide Web sites. Discovery School : Associated with TLC and Discovery, this site links to pages that also include lesson plans with their videos. I have used the TLC videos and they are quite effective. Teachers Helping Teachers : This site is designed by Dr. Scott Mandel, who is a history teacher at Pacoima Middle School . His site is full of great lesson ideas. Building Bridges Between Middle Schools and High Schools Bloom's Taxonomy - This is a great way to get your students to ask higher-level thinking questions as well as learning how to ask them yourself. Themes & Essential Questions - Framing Inquiry & Promoting Critical Thinking Teaching @ Tolerance - Martin Luther King, Jr., dreamed of a world more tolerant than the one he lived in. This week's lessons are designed to teach kids about King's dream of tolerance. Included: Lessons on stereotyping, appreciating differences, recognizing how words can hurt (or heal), and more! They're sorted by subject and lifestage, so you can find what you're looking for quickly and easily. Yahooligans! This is part of the Yahoo! page but designed just for kids. Lots of cool links. Blue Web'n : Blue Ribbon learning sites from Pac Bell. PBS.org - The PBS site has lots of great links including PBS programs and lesson plans. BBC - Skillswise - Games - This is a great site that will have your English and math students playing educational games.

A must see. Mr. Donn's history page : This site is so amazing. Don Donn does a wonderful service to all history teachers with this site. It could take you weeks just to go through the whole thing. California History-Social Science Course Models : Includes model lessons and standards. Very helpful to teachers incorporating California standards into their curriculum. Click2History is a part of Awesomestories.com and presents history in the form of stories, with blue highlighted words linked to primary documents and original photographs. This is a unique method of learning history. The stories are written in a manner that is easy to read and students will identify with the events and people and therefore will be able to recall many details as well as attain a larger picture of world history. Themes include war, human rights, labor laws, civil leaders, and technological advances.
