Nico Martín

Nico Martin was born in 1990 in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. He comes from a family of musicians and makes contact with music at the early age of 9, choosing the guitar as his main instrument.

He began to be part of Rock bands as a solo guitarist of the local scene in Tenerife while receiving classes from the Italian guitarist Savino Di Vietro.

 In 2010 he formed the progressive Rock band The White Omelette which captured the attention of the famous singer of the international band Helloween, Andi Deris. He works as a lead guitar for the Bad Bankers album. After a few years of development in the field of Rock and Fusion, he decided to investigate and develop the language of Jazz, seeking to expand its possibilities and nourish himself with new concepts.

In 2015 he moved to Navarra where he began his conservatory studies at the CSMN in the Jazz Guitar modality. In 2018 he did an Erasmus in the Netherlands at the Maastricht ZUYD Conservatory where he broadened his artistic vision thanks to the experience granted. In the year 2020 he obtained the degree of Jazz Guitar with outstanding. Throughout his formative years he has received classes from musicians and artists such as Gilad Hekselman, Bob Moses, Peter Berstein, Romain Pilon, Lage Lund, Robben Ford, Luis Gimenez, Jon Urrutia and others.

He has collaborated as a sideman with international national artists: Kike Perdomo, Daniel Juarez, Albericola, The Red Capa, Yuss Cawa, Real Eyes, Monki Rangers, The Fringe Orchestra, The Lampshade, Small Medium, Big Band de Canarias, Imazighen, Roberto Pistolesi 4tet.

He has participated in international festivals throughout his career as a leader and as sideman, sharing the stage with artists like Robert Glasper, Snarky Puppy, Chris Potter, Maceo Parker or Antonio Lizana:
