Pedro Halffter

As conductor and composer, Pedro Halffter has been Artistic Director of Seville’s Teatro de la Maestranza, Seville Royal Symphony Orchestra, Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra , Principal Guest conductor of the Nürnberger Symphoniker and Principal Conductor of the Youth Orchestra of the Bayreuth Festival.

He has been on the podium of orchestras such as the Philharmonia Orchestra of London, Symphonieorchester des Bayerischen Rundfunks, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Staatskapelle Berlin, Dresdner Philharmonie, RAI, hr-Sinfonieorchester Frankfurt, Berlin, Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin, Konzert Fiorentino and the main Spanish orchestras.

He has also conducted in prestigious venues such as the Musikverein in Vienna, Konzerthaus in Berlin, the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London, Théâtre du Chatelet in Paris, the Royal Theater in Madrid, the National Center for Performing Arts in Beijing, the Tchaikovsky Hall in Moscow, Auditorium from the Tokyo Metropolitan Opera, Shanghai Concert Hall, Verdi Theater in Trieste, Grosses Festpielhaus in Salzburg, Bayerische Staatsoper, Herkulessaal in Munich, Munich Opera Festival, Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona, Berliner Philharmonie, Aalto Musiktheater in Essen, Theater National of Mannheim, Theater du Capitole de Toulouse, among others.

He has recently conducted Salomé and Der ferne Klang (Staatsoper Unter den Linden), Norma (Dresdner Philharmonie), Rigoletto (NCPA Beijing), Der Kaiser von Atlantis (Royal Theater), his symphonic version of Götterdämmerung (Dortmund), La Bohème (ABAO) and Tannhäuser, Die Zauberflöte, La Bohème, Fidelio, Falstaff, Adriana Lecouvreur, Der kaiser von Atlantis, Il Trovatore and Andrea Chénier (Maestranza).

He has also released symphonic versions of Tannhäuser, Götterdämmerung, Parsifal and Siegfried, which have been performed by the best orchestras in Spain, Italy and France.

His record publications include recordings in Deutsche Grammophon (Ginastera’s Panambí) , Warner Music (monographs by Falla and Korngold) and Warner Classics (albums dedicated to Schoenberg and Schreker, with the Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, and Daugherty, together with the Montréal Symphonique Orchestra (the latter won the June Award for Best Classical Music Album of 2011).

His works in the 19/20 season include La Traviata (Quebec and Seville), Der Diktator and Der Kaiser von Atlantis (Tenerife Opera) and Der fliegende Holländer (ABAO), as well as various symphony concerts, such as his new Tannhäuser orchestration with OSCyL, Te Deum de Braunfels with OCNE and a Beethoven Project in Germany.

Her commitments for the upcoming season include Florence on the Amazon in St Gallen and a concert with the Basel Symphony Orchestra at the Canary Islands Music Festival
