In January 2020, 35 years have elapsed since that day, when the first edition of the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands (FIMC) was inaugurated. That January 11th, 1985 would be a key date for music on our islands: from that day it was possible for the canary people to enjoy world-class orchestras, conductors and soloists, which would have been otherwise very difficult to meet. And this meant, therefore, placing the Canary Islands with a cultural event of great prestige on the international map of classical music.
Three and a half decades later we can talk about a Festival consolidated and appreciated by the citizens: some 26,000 spectators attended the FIMC in its last edition (2019). An increase in public that allows us to predict an optimal future.
We present a new program for the 36th edition in which we intend to follow the line of recent years: Philharmonia Orchestra, Paris Orchestra, Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra, Danish National Symphony, Gran Canaria Philharmonic Orchestra, Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Mitsuko Uchida, Pinchas Zukerman, Arcadi Volodos, Jean Guihen Queyras, Christoph Eschenbach, Juanjo Mena, Andrés Orozco-Estrada ... among other extraordinary musicians, who are invited to our Festival from Jan. 9th to February 9th 2020.
We will live again almost five weeks full of enthusiasm. The one of the team, the one of the musicians and, of course, the eagerness of our public and of those people starting with classical music.
We love to fulfill the expectations of music lovers.
