MARIANNA PIZZOLATO

Marianna Pizzolato made her debut at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro with Il Viaggio a Reims, returning in the following seasons singing in Tancredi, L’Italiana in Algeri, Zelmira, Cenerentola and Il Barbiere di Siviglia.

Reference performer for the main Rossini roles, as well as for Baroque and eighteenth century repertoire she is considered one of the foremost voices of our time. She regularly sings in the most prestigious venues and festivals in the world, working with conductors such as Roberto Abbado, Maurizio Benini, Sir John Eliot Gardiner, Daniele Gatti, Michele Mariotti, Riccardo Muti, Antonio Pappano just to name a few. 

Recent engagements include: Zelmira in Lyon and Paris (TCE), Metropolitan Opera debut as Isabella in L’Italiana in Algeri, James Levine conducting; Rossini's Stabat Mater in Edinburgh with Antonio Pappano and at the Tanglewood Festival with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Charles Dutoit; Beethoven’s 9th Symphony in St.Denis with the Orchestre National de France; Mahler’s Symphony no. 2, and no. 3 in Palermo; Petite messe Solennelle and Il Viaggio a Reims in Moscow with Tugan Sokhiev; L’Italiana in Algeri in Paris on tour with the Teatro Comunale in Bologna, Michele Mariotti conducting; Verdi’s Requiem with John Eliot Gardiner. Mrs. Pizzolato took part as Ottavia and Penelope in the successful worldwide tour Monteverdi 450, a project conducted by Sir John Eliot Gardiner.

Plans include L’Italiana in Algeri in Madrid and San Sebastian; Sigismondo (title role) in Munich; Serse (Amastre) in Toulouse, Essen and La Coruna; Alto rhapsody in Palermo; Falstaff in Madrid; Missa solemnis in C minor in Salzburg; Paukenmesse at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia; a Gala Concert in Lucerne.

Graduated with honors at the Bellini Conservatory in Palermo, Marianna Pizzolato studied with Claudia Carbi and she made her operatic debut in 2002 singing the title role in Rossini's Tancredi in Piacenza.
