Svetla Krasteva

Spanish soprano born in Bulgaria. She did the piano and singing careers at the Sofía conservatory obtaining the highest degree.

She debuted at the Sofia Theater with Otto Nicolai's opera "The Merry Wives of Windsor". Since then she has sung in almost all European countries, highlighting Italy, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Spain, as well as in South Africa and South America. She was awarded a scholarship by the Singing School of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan for her perfection where she made her debut with the world première of Giacomo Manzoni's opera "Doctor Faust" under the baton of Gary Bertini. Obtaining the first prize of Treviso’s international singing contest "Toti dal Monte" gives her the opportunity to make her debut in other great theaters, as well as working alongside with distinguished colleagues such as Luis Lima, Erwin Schrott, Mario Malagnini, Elena Zaremba, Denyce Graves or conductors like of Peter Maag, Theodor Guschlbauer, Yuri Ahronovich, Renato Palumbo, Marco Armiliato, Vassily Petrenko or Riccardo Muti, among others, having participated with this last conductor in the live recording from Scala in Milan of "Iphigenie in Tauride "under the baton of Riccardo Muti, edited in DVD.

She combines his concert activity with an intense operatic activity performing the most outstanding roles of her string (Violetta, Lucia, Margherite, Mimi, Liu, Nedda, Desdemona, Rosina, Donna Anna and more recently others such as Sour Angelica, Leonora (Il trovatore), Amelia Boccanegra, Alice Ford, Tatiana de Evgueni Onegin, Elisabetta di Valois or Manon Lescaut) alternating with concerts of lieder and sacred music. She has recently premiered with great success the show / concert "From Thracian to Al Andalus", a fusion between Spanish music and her native Bulgaria. She has recently appeared at the world première of Salvador Giner L`indovina's opera at the Palau de la Música in Valencia, the role of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, Margherite of Gounod’s Faust or Dvorak’s Requiem with ORTVE under the baton of Carlos Kalmar. In Spain she has sung in the main theaters of the country: Teatro Real de Madrid, Gran Teatre del Liceu de Barcelona, Teatro Maestranza de Sevilla, Auditorio Nacional de Madrid, among others.

She has recorded, among others, Verdi's Requiem first in Switzerland and then in 2010 in DVD beside the Orfeón Donostiarra. For the Bongiovanni house, the Symphony No. 27 by Luigi Boccherini, Stabat Mater by Tomaso Traetta, as well as a selection of Inés de Castro opera. She also participates in the aforementioned Gluck’s Iphigenie in Tauride with the Orchestra and Choir of the Scala de Milan, with conductor Ricardo Muti for the Sony Classical label and in the recording of John Rutter’s work "Children Mass".
