Michel Tabachnik

He is currently Director Emeritus of the Brussels Philharmonic and principal guest of the SWR Stuttgart, Konzerthaus Berlin, Residentie Orkest, Orchestra of La Fenice in Venice, St. Petersburg Philharmonic and Paris Philharmonic. He has been Music Director of the Noord Nederlands Orkest, of the Gulbenkian Foundation Orchestra, Orchestre Philharmonique de Lorraine and the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris.

He has conducted prestigious orchestras such as the Berlin Philharmonic, Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Tokyo NHK, Orchestre de Paris and conducted at festivals such as Lucerne, Salzburg, Aix en Provence, etc.

Michel Tabachnik was companion and adviser of Herbert von Karajan and founded - on behalf of Pierre Boulez - the Ensemble Intercontemporain in Paris and the Orchestre National de Lorraine.

He has conducted more than 130 world premieres, some of them by the composer Iannis Xenakis, who called him his "favorite artist". He has performed in prestigious European venues such as Paris, Vienna, Amsterdam, Berlin and London.

Recent and upcoming engagements include concerts with the RSO Stuttgart des SWR, Konzerthaus Berlin, MDR Sinfonieorchester Leipzig, NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg, among others.

As opera conductor he has directed titles like Lohengrin, Madama Butterfly, Carmen, The Rake's Progress, among others, in the theaters of Paris, Genoa, Zurich, Copenhagen, Lisbon, Montreal, Geneva, Bolshoi Theater and the Canadian Opera Company in Toronto.

As a composer, his last opera hightlight is "Benjami - dernière nuit", recently premiered at  Lyon’s Opera.
