The Austrian tenor studied at the Mozarteum Salzburg, where he was awarded with the “Lilli-Lehmann-Medaille”.
The international breakthrough came with roles such as Siegmund/WALKÜRE at the Philharmonie Berlin, Don José/CARMEN in Paris, Baden-Baden, Zurich and Hamburg, Parsifal and Erik/FLYING DUTCHMAN at the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Max/DER FREISCHÜTZ in Geneva, Parsifal at the Budapest Festival, in Dresden and on tour with the Bavarian State Opera in Paris, Erik/FLYING DUTCHMAN at the Edinburgh Festival and Loge/RHEINGOLD in Montreal.
Further engagements include Grigori Otrepjew/BORIS GODUNOV and Bacchus/ARIADNE AUF NAXOS in Valencia, the title part in a new production of PARSIFAL in Lyon and in Hamburg, Florestan/FIDELIO at the Prague Spring Festival and GURRELIEDER with the Vienna Philharmonic under Zubin Mehta at the Vienna Musikverein. He sang GURRELIDER also at the Enescu Festival in Bucharest, Zaragoza, Barcelona and last under the baton of Peter Ruzicka in Beijing and Shanghai.
His debut at the Opéra de Paris/Bastille as Don José in a new production of CARMEN was topped in February 2013 by his debut at the MET, also with Don José/CARMEN. Other engagements included Florestan in a new production of FIDELIO in Lyon and at the Edinburgh Festival, Parsifal in Hamburg as well as concerts with Mahler’s 8th SYMPHONY in Frankfurt.
After his first Cavaradossi/TOSCA in Cologne, he appeared in concerts with the 3rd act of PARSIFAL in Washington D.C. under Christoph Eschenbach, as Siegmund/WALKÜRE under the baton of Zubin Mehta in Valencia, in Liszt’s FAUST SYMPHONY with the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra under Riccardo Chailly, as Parsifal in Munich and as OEDIPUS REX in Paris.
In Lyon, he was highly acclaimed for his portrayal of Éléazar in LA JUIVE. Seattle invited him for Erik/DER FLIEGENDE HOLLÄNDER, and Santiago de Chile for Jim Mahoney/MAHAGONNY. In July 2016, Schukoff sang his first OTELLO for a CD production with the Gulbenkian Orchestra under Lawrence Foster.
On the concert stage, the artist has also appeared in Janáček GLAGOLITIC MASS with the Munich Philharmonic, in Beethoven's 9th SYMPHONY under Gustavo Dudamel in Rome, under Riccardo Chailly in Leipzig, under Marek Janowski in Berlin and Geneva as well as under Christoph Eschenbach in London. He sang Mahler's 8th SYMPHONY as well as LIED VON DER ERDE under Eschenbach at the Lucerne and Berlin Festivals, at the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, in Paris and London and DAS KLAGENDE LIED under Daniele Gatti in Paris.
