Katia andMariellehavehad the privilege of working with many composers including Thomas Adès, Louis Andriessen, Luciano Berio, Pierre Boulez, Philip Glass, Osvaldo Golijov, György Ligeti,andOlivier Messiaen.
The Labèquesplay in festivals and renownedvenuesworldwideincludingtheViennaMusikverein, HamburgMusikhalle, MunichPhilharmonie, Carnegie Hall, Royal Festival Hall, La Scala, Berlin Philharmonie, Blossom, Hollywood Bowl,Lucerne, BBC Proms, Ravinia, Tanglewood andSalzburg. A record audience of more than 33,000 attended a gala concert with the Berlin Philharmonic conducted by Sir Simon Rattle atBerlin’s Waldbühne, now available on DVD(EuroArts).
For their own label,KML recordings, they have just released Sisterswith a selection of musical pieces from their personal and professional lives.
In May 2015 the show “Love Stories” with the new pieceStar-Cross'd Lovers,written by David Chalmin, was premiered at theParis Philharmonie. This original composition for two pianos, electric guitar and drums is based on the Shakespearean dramaRomeo and Juliet. The choreography for 7 dancers is created by world-renowned break-dancer YamanOkur (Madonna, Cirque du Soleil). They will present again this show in Paris in June 2016 at Châtelet, and they will tour in July and October 2016.
On the 26th May 2015, they gave the world premiere of Philip Glass’snew Concerto, written for them,in Los Angeles at Walt Disney Hall with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gustavo Dudamel.
