Carole Sydney Louis

After earning a degree in Management, the french soprano Carole Sidney Louis dedicated herself to the singing and joined the Strasbourg National Opera’s “Jeunes Voix du Rhin”. Her career began singing roles like Zerlina in Mozart’s Don Giovanni; Juliette, Roméo et Juliette by Gounod; Fiordiligi, Così fan Tutte by Mozart; Iphigenie, Iphigenie in Aulis by Gluck; Micaëla, Carmen by Bizet; Donna Elvira, Don Giovanni by Mozart… and was invited to sing Mimi in La Bohème by Puccini to open the 2009-2010 Season in Metz Opera. Her repertoire includes now roles like: Leonore, Fidelio by Beethoven; Ariadne, Ariadne auf Naxos by R.Strauss; Sieglinde, Die Walküre by R. Wagner; Manon, Manon Lescaut by Puccini…She sings also contemporary works like Gualtiero Dazzi‘s Lumière Brisée at the Strasbourg Musica Festival; Grossfürstin/Frau/Sie in Das  Wachsfigurenkabinett by K.A.Hartmann; Adriana in the worldwide premiere of Charles Chaynes opera Mi Amor at the Metz Opera under the musical direction of Arturo Tamayo; Elizabeth in Elegy for young lovers by Hans Werner Henze with the ensemble Novecento e Presente at the Lugano’s Radio; Die Frau in Erwartung by Arnold Schoenberg in worldwide premiere in New York (Artistic director: Robin Rhode, Performa 15 – Times Square 2015/11).

Carole Sidney Louis also performs regularly in concert with internationals orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (Musica Viva Reihe); the Hessicher Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra (Klangbiennale 2009: Bruno Maderna’s Ausstrahlung); the Luxembourg Philharmonic Orchestra (Rainy Days Festival); the RAI National Orchestra of Torino (Offrandes by Edgard Varèse); The Soloists of the Frankfurt‘s Radio Symphony Orchestra; the Lecce Symphonic Orchestra (Les nuits d´été by Hector Berlioz); the Prague Symphony Orchestra (the Poèmes pour Mi by Olivier Messiaen); The Plural Ensemble (El Cántico by Gonzalo de Olavide) at the Reina Sofia’s Auditorium in Madrid; the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra (Erwartung by Schoenberg); the Granada Symphonic Orchestra (Second string quartet, version for String orchestra by Arnold Schoenberg and Paraiso Cerrado II by José María Sanchez-Verdú in world-wide premiere 2012); the Orchestra Comunale del Teatro di Bologna (Erwartung by Schoenberg and Isoldes Liebestod, 2013); the Portugese Symphony Orchestra and the Choir of the Teatro Sao Carlos (Elisabeth, Die Legende von der Heiligen Elisabeth by F.Liszt, Lisboa 2015). Carole Sidney Louis has recorded several CDs: Bruno Maderna’s Ausstrahlung for Voice, Flute, Oboe and Orchestra with the Hessischer Rundfunk Symphony Orchestra for the label Neos; Estigma and Concertante-Divides by Gonzalo de Olavide, the Scherzo for Voice and Orchestra by Gerardo Gombau and Zuk zer dezu by Felix Ibarrondo (released 2017) with the Madrid RTVE Symphony Orchestra for the label Verso. She will record the Suite from Don Rodrigo by Ginastera for dramatic soprano with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester Berlin in 2018-17.

Among different projects, she will sing Erwartung by Schoenberg in live concert, recorded by the Radio della Svizzera Italiana (Lugano, Nov.2016), the part of the “Knusperhexe” in Hänsel und Gretel by Humperdinck in live concert in Berlin Konzerthaus (Dec.2016). She will also sing the lead role Salud in La Vida Breve by De Falla with the Berlin’s Konzerthausorchester (2018-2017).
