From  January 8th to February 12th 2016 the MUSIC will be present in the Canary Islands. It will return to the venues of the whole Archipelago with the celebration of the 32nd International Music Festival of the Canary Islands, when the first notes will sound in the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

The FIMC ( Festival Internacional de Música de Canarias), as one of the most important classical music Festivals in Spain will offer, as usual, a program of extraordinary quality, betting again for music as a vehicle of communication and broadcasting of culture, so that the Canary Islands remain being  a  national and international benchmark in terms of classical music.

Organized by the Canary Islands Government, in collaboration with the councils and sponsors, this festival edition includes 6 series symphonic concerts, in both capital islands, the Auditorio Alfredo Kraus in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and Auditorium de Tenerife 'Adán Martín', 4 series chamber concerts plus twenty five concerts in surprising venues in La Palma, Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, La Gomera, El Hierro and La Graciosa.

In total there will be forty-five concerts that include the presence of internationally renowned artists as the tenor Juan Diego Flórez, conductors Massimo Zanetti, Andrés Orozco Estrada, Thomas Hengelbrock, Jukka Pekka Saraste and Ivan Fischer, pianists Denis Matsuev, Dmitris Sgouros, Ivan Martín , Javier Negrín and oboist Lucas Macías Navarro.  In addition to the pretigious London Philharmonic Orchestra and Budapest Festival Orchestra,  the programme is completed by the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra and Philharmonic Orchestra of Gran Canaria and other chamber orchestras such as the Cameristi della Scala, La Petite Bande, Galdós Ensemble, Trío Arbós, Trondheim Soloists, The Signum Quartet plus the famous choral ensemble The Vienna Boys Choir. The Festival will count on the presence of Yael Raanan-Vandor, alto finalist singer of the Otto Edelmann Singing Competition 2015, who will offer a concert together with its founder, the baritone Peter Edelmann and the pianist Jorge Robaina. 

Over more than thirty-one years the Canary Islands Music Festival has managed to become an international benchmark in the world of classical music festivals, both for its high artistic quality, and by the peculiar feature of being the first event opening musical activity in Europe, as it takes place in the months of January and February. It has become the only of its kind that takes place in winter, a kind of winter that, in relation to the rest of Europe and thanks to the kindness of our climate-land is really a pleasant spring.

The geographical diversity of the Canaries and the fact that music is present throughout the whole archipelago is one of the distinctive features which always cause great admiration both among the public and among the artists who visit us and make our festival unique.
